Woman suspected of assaulting officer after collision

Hollister police arrested a woman suspected of assaulting an officer and two others for obstruction of justice after a traffic collision turned heated Saturday night on Nash Road, a police captain confirmed with San Benito Live.

The incident happened at about 9:45 p.m. Saturday at Nash Road and Prune Street in the central part of Hollister.

“It was a traffic accident, and the people involved in the accident were at a party,” Sgt. Don Pershall said. “Some of the party goers arrived on scene and basically obstructed the investigation.”

One of those residents, 29-year-old Jacqueline Valdez, was arrested on suspicion of assaulting the responding officer. Two others, 25-year-old Gilbert Lozoya-Sanchez and 21-year-old Ernesto Alvarez-Villalobos, were arrested on suspicion of obstructing a public officer.

Pershall didn’t have a specific type of assault available, while there were no reported injuries. Police called for backup from the San Benito County Sheriff’s Office and California Highway Patrol to assist on scene.

The San Benito County Sheriff’s Office did not immediately have an electronic mugshot available of Valdez due to ongoing county computer problems.
