A woman was shot in a drive-by shooting Wednesday evening on North Chappell Road in Hollister.
The woman was a passenger in a vehicle when shot and was taken to Hazel Hawkins Memorial Hospital. She is expected to survive, said Sgt. Don Pershall with the Hollister Police Department.
Pershall said the only description of the suspect vehicle right now is that it was a dark-colored sedan. The police sergeant said the victim vehicle had been moving, while the vehicle where the shot came from had been stationary when it occurred.
Pershall couldn’t provide any immediate details on the victim other than her sex and that she was struck once.
The incident happened at 4:55 p.m. on North Chappell Road near Primavera Drive.
“We don’t know the motive at this point,” Pershall said.
The incident happened less than three weeks after a Nov. 18 drive-by shooting on McCray Street, where a 19-year-old man was struck while walking with a woman.
