With San Benito County Budget Officer Melinda Casillas ready to take the helm as the elected treasurer/tax collector, the county hired a successor to take on her role as budget officer.
The county introduced Stewart Patri at last week’s board of supervisors meeting. The San Benito High School graduate with an accounting degree with California State University, Long Beach, who is pursuing a master’s degree at San Jose State in public administration, will take on the job.

Casillas at last week’s board meeting noted how Patri had been working in the auditor’s office for about a year and a half and has a lot of experience with the county’s management system software.
“We think he’ll be a great asset to our department,” she said.
Patri spoke briefly and said he hopes to build off improvements overseen by Casillas in the budget office, and Supervisor Anthony Botelho congratulated him.
The position in 2017 paid $94,335 in salary and $29,180 in benefits, according to a state compensation database.
