Here are the latest updates on the wildfires burning in the region:
The Carmel Fire is now 15% contained and has burned 6,695 acres.
According to Calfire regarding the incident south of Carmel, cloud cover and increased humidity have helped progress by slowing the fire’s spread. A total of 35 residences have been destroyed, while two other minor structures have been destroyed.
As for the River Fire east of Salinas, 48,424 acres have burned with 23% containment. The same weather conditions have helped to slow its spread too, according to Calfire. Eight homes have been destroyed with another eight damaged. Thirteen other minor structures have been destroyed.
Meanwhile, the CSU Lightning Complex fire in five nearby counties, including Santa Clara, is at 347,196 acres and 10 percent containment. Twelve structures have been destroyed with another 12 damaged, according to Calfire.
And the Dolan Fire in Big Sur is at nearly 20,000 acres, but that is no longer a Calfire incident.
