Authorities identified the local man who died in a fatal collision Friday morning on Fairview Road.
The deceased victim was 49-year-old Jason T. Baker of Hollister, according to the San Benito County Coroner’s Office.
The incident happened at 6:53 a.m. on Fairview Road north of Hillcrest Road.
According to the California Highway Patrol, the victim had been northbound on Fairview Road in a 2019 Chevrolet pickup. For unknown reasons, he allowed the vehicle to cross over into the southbound lane, travel on the right shoulder and crash into a tree.
The driver sustained fatal injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene. Neither alcohol nor drugs are believed to be a factor. Anyone with information should call CHP Officer T. Quintana at (408) 848-2324 or email [email protected].
