Update: Area cleared after bomb found in Hollister home

The San Benito County Sheriff’s Office declared an area clear after several hours on the scene where explosives were found in a home near Nash Road and Homestead Avenue.

The sheriff’s office said items being examined inside the home, after detonating one bomb earlier Friday, were not explosives.

But the sheriff’s office and Monterey County Sheriff’s Office bomb squad did find two improvised explosives Friday morning before detonating one in a small field around 10:30 a.m. Friday.

The sheriff’s office declared Nash Road reopened at about 1:30 p.m. after a brief closure near the home.

The sheriff’s office emphasized that San Benito High School was not in danger at anytime, although the edge of the campus was about a block from the field at Nash and Homestead where authorities detonated the bomb, which let off a jolting noise in the neighborhood.
