Three suspected of firearm possession

The Hollister Police Department arrested three local men for possession of a firearm, according to a press statement released Friday.

The report on the case from Dec. 8 reads as follows:

On December 8, 2018, at about 8:36 P.M., Officer Juan Guevara was on patrol in the 400 Block of San Benito Street area when he stopped a vehicle for a traffic violation.Officer Guevara contacted the driver of the vehicle, who was identified as Gregory Casarez (22). There were also two passengers in the vehicle, Nicholas Lopez (25) and Ruben Rivera Davila (25), all Hollister residents.

During the car stop, Officer Guevara conducted a search of the vehicle and located a loaded handgun in the car. The firearm was fully loaded and within reach of all of the occupants. No one in the vehicle admitted to owning the firearm.

All three occupants were arrested for possession of a loaded firearm. Rivera-Davila was also charged being a convicted felon in control of a firearm.

They were transported to the San Benito County Jail were they were booked and released to jail staff for processing.
