“California Suite” is the newest adult show from the San Benito Stage Company.
The show kicks off Friday at the IOOF Lodge, 330 Fourth St., and will be performed over two weekends.
The Neil Simon story is a compilation of four playlets taking place in a Beverly Hills hotel involving various conflicts among visitors from around the U.S. and London.
This is the one San Benito Stage Company show of the year that exclusively involves adults, with all the actors over age 18.
“It’s a nice evening out with a date or group of friends,” said show producer Anne Hall.
Unlike the shows involving youths, the lodge will include a bar where patrons can purchase beer or wine, while snacks are available as well. It’s a relatively smaller venue and cast compared with other shows, too.
“It’s more of a nightclub or cabaret type of feel,” Hall added.
She noted how locals often complain there isn’t much to do in Hollister, but that this production shows otherwise.
“It’s $20 for live entertainment,” Hall said. “These are people who are here local. I think people will be surprised and entertained by people they actually know.”
Local actors in the show include Jenny Arbizu, Michael Budd, Nick Fryou, Charley Gilmore, Al Gonzalez, Shirley Murphy and Sarah Smith. It is directed by Taunya Berrera.
Show dates are Feb. 21, 22, 23, 28 and 29. The Feb. 23 show is at 2 p.m., while the others are at 8 p.m. with doors opening 30 minutes prior to the start.
Tickets are available at Mars Hill Coffeehouse, Postal Graphics and online and BrownPaperTickets.com.
