Small earthquakes rattle county

Several small earthquakes rattled separate areas of San Benito County early Monday morning. 

A 3.0 magnitude earthquake happened at 1:37 a.m. Monday about three miles south/southwest of Gilroy near San Juan Bautista and Hollister. 

Residents in the Mission City and Hollister reported feeling the quake, according to the U.S. Geological Survey website. People reported feeling it as far north as Hayward. 

That was followed by a 2.7 magnitude quake in the same area at 5:36 a.m., according to the USGS. 

On the other side of the county, a 2.8 magnitude earthquake was reported at 7:10 a.m. about nine miles north of Pinnacles National Park. Residents reported feeling it as far north as the Los Gatos area and to the south near Soledad.
