Local veterans groups are once again organizing a series of ceremonies for Memorial Day in San Benito County.
It all starts at 8 a.m. with the first remembrance ceremony at the San Juan Bautista Cemetery on Monterey Street in the Mission City. Then at 9 a.m., another remembrance will take place at the IOOF Cemetery on Buena Vista Road in Hollister, followed by a similar activity at the Calvary Cemetery in Hollister on Hillcrest Road. Members of Mr. O’s Jazz Band will play music at each stop.
Then at 11 a.m. at the Veterans Memorial Building in downtown Hollister, the veterans groups will host a ceremony for the new banners going up in downtown to honor local veterans along with a remembrance tile ceremony for the memorial of tiles at the front of the veterans building property along San Benito Street.
A lunch will follow the Veterans Memorial Building stop.
