School parents group showing ‘Coco’ tonight

The Dual Language Immersion Parents of San Juan Bautista group is hosting a Dinner & Movie Night at San Juan School on Friday evening.

Playing tonight is ‘Coco’, the Disney-Pixar movie that recently won the Academy Award for Best Animated Film that includes voice work by San Juan Bautista’s own Luis Valdez.

The event, a fundraiser for the Dual Language Immersion Parents, includes made-to-order Mexican food at 5:30 p.m. and the movie at 6:30 p.m. A free bag of popcorn is included with admission.

Bring your own pillows, blankets and chairs to the school gym, while other food and drink is available for purchase, according to the group’s announcement.

Valdez, the film icon attached to El Teatro Campesino in San Juan and films like “La Bamba” and plays like “Zoot Suit”, voiced the role of Tío Berto. Berto is the main character’s uncle and part of the family shoe-making business.
