Welcome Baler Class of 2022! On Wednesday, ASB, Link Crew, Class Officers, cheerleaders and several other groups welcomed our newest students at the SBHS Freshman Orientation. “Overall, I was very pleased with how the first day of school went for us,” said Principal Adrian Ramirez. “Considering that we revised our bell schedule, held a Kickoff rally to promote our Baler STRONG Core Values and held our first day of homeroom, our students and staff couldn’t have handled it any better than they did.”
Ramirez said that as principal, he “always looks forward to the first couple days of school,” during which time the Baler administrative team spends much of its time visiting classrooms “to ensure that we support our teachers in welcoming our students back to school.”
The first few days of school provide an opportunity to set the tone for the year ahead,” the principal noted.
“We pride ourselves in starting each year with an emphasis on building positive relationships with our students,” Ramirez said. “It’s such a critical factor in promoting a safe campus and academic achievement. As we visited classrooms, we observed our teachers getting to know our students and getting right to work on their content. The sense of urgency was notable.”
Ramirez also credited the district’s support staff for maintaining school safety on a campus that is well taken care of.
“All of us here on campus are very fortunate to be working on a campus that is as well taken care of as this one,” he said. “Our maintenance and custodial staff did a great job of preparing our campus for the start of the school year. We are also fortunate to be part of a community that has supported us through the past two bond measures. All of our new facilities and upgrades to existing facilities make it an exciting time to be a student and staff member at SBHS.”
