In May, San Benito High School’s AVID (Advancement Via Individual Determination) program collaborated with the College Career Transition Project at San Francisco State University to host a five-week workshop on STEM (science, technology, engineering and math) majors, focusing on film and cinema.
At the end of the workshop, students created three-minute projects.
“They all did amazing work,” said AVID teacher Charlene Hernandez, who announced that two SBHS students submitted their short films to the Roxie Theater’s Mixtape-in-Place Festival.
It was announced last week that senior Shantel Davis’s “Ascriptive” and junior Frida Barba’s “The Black Sheep” will be part of the film festival, which begins online July 23.
