San Benito High School sophomore Trystan Mumm won the Every Student Succeeding Award for San Benito County and was recognized as one of four students from the Monterey, Santa Cruz, Salinas and San Benito Charters of ACSA (Association of California School Administrators).

The ACSA Board recognized Trystan at her home last week because the typical awards celebration was cancelled due to the shelter-in-place.

Trystan was recognized for her courage and strength to maintain a 3.89 GPA while battling a brain tumor.

Her mother, Tiffany Mumm, said that she is “so proud of (Trystan’s) hard work, her dedication, and her willingness to give our new normal the best she can. Our lives will never be the same, and today’s, that’s OK. She continues to be tumor-free and we celebrate that as much as possible.”

Trystan’s SBHS teachers report that she is doing an outstanding job as a student, advocating for herself and earning excellent grades in honors and advanced classes.
