On Friday during lunch in the Quad, San Benito High School recognized seniors who earned a Seal of Biliteracy, those who earned Senior Scholar Awards and the senior class officers. Also, the entire senior class was provided a free pizza lunch.

To receive the Seal of Biliteracy, students must meet all English language arts requirements for graduation with an overall grade point average of 2.0 or above and Pass the Smarter Balanced Assessments (SBAC) in English language arts administered in grade 11 at the proficient level or above. They must also be proficient in one or more languages in addition to English as demonstrated through one of three options: 1) Passing a foreign language Advanced Placement examination with a score of 3 or higher or an International Baccalaureate examination with a score of 4 or higher. 2) Completing a four-year course of study in the same foreign language, and attain an overall GPA of 3.0 or above. 3) Passing the SAT 2 foreign language exam with a score of 600 or higher.
The Senior Academic Scholar designation is for any senior who maintained a cumulative/career GPA of 3.5 or above through the 5th grading period of their senior year.
