SBHS names Baler STRONG honorees for Jan. 28-Feb. 1

San Benito High School teachers, counselors and administrators each week recognize students as Baler STRONG Students of the Week. STRONG is an acronym for (Scholarship, Teamwork, Reflection, Opportunity, Nurture and Growth), representing the core values of San Benito High School. Each student earning recognition is presented with a certificate signifying the honor.

Here are the recipients for week of Jan. 28-Feb. 1:

Student Services nominated junior Jennifer Negrete-Guerra and senior Bradley Allmon, noting that Negrete-Guerra “has shown tremendous growth in attendance” while Allmon “ has shown tremendous growth in improving his behavior at school and in his classes.”

Leadership nominated junior Vanessa Ramirez and senior Yasmin Gonzalez, with Activities Director Catalina Lemos pointing out that Ramirez “has grown into such a strong leader this year. I am proud of her work ethic and attention to detail. She is growing by leaps and bounds! ” Gonzalez, the nomination said, “ is an outstanding ASB officer. She always reflects on her work and pays very close attention to detail. She follows up regularly and is doing a marvelous job with her position on Community Affairs. ”    

The Administration nominated freshman Samantha Slykas and senior Jacqueline Perez-Archibeque for its Baler STRONG recognition, saying, “ Through her 4-H Emerald Star Project, Samantha has organized a community-wide event focused on the awareness of cyberbullying, harassment and personal safety. We are proud that she is a Baler! ” The nomination called Perez-Archibeque “a proactive student who never passes up an opportunity to contribute to our school culture. Her contributions have helped inform critical decisions on our campus.”
