SBHS formalizes extended closure to May 1

Courtesy of San Benito High School:

San Benito High School trustees Tuesday officially extended its classroom closure to May 1.

The decision goes in line with the recommendation from superintendents throughout the county, and other districts are expected to follow suit. The Hollister district Monday extended its closures until at least May 1 as well.

Meanwhile, the state superintendent Tuesday made a strong recommendation for public schools throughout the state to close classroom instruction for the remainder of the school year.

According to the announcement from the high school Tuesday night:

This evening (Tuesday, March 31), the San Benito High School Board of Trustees, in conjunction with other public schools in the county, announced the decision to extend the closure of San Benito High School through May 1, 2020, to further limit the community spread of COVID-19. We have been planning for the potential of extended school closures for the past couple of weeks and have prepared for multiple scenarios as this situation continues to evolve. We understand how challenging these decisions are for our families, students, and staff and we appreciate your support. We are very grateful for all of the work our staff is doing to support our students and families.
