San Benito High School is participating in the California Student Mock Election today.
This program is intended to help young people discover the importance of elections and the power of their votes in the democratic process. This year, the mock election builds on the excitement of a presidential election by providing high school and middle school students a chance to cast their mock vote for the candidate they want to be our next president, as well as weigh in on the various propositions on the state’s 2020 ballot.
Once all of the votes are counted, students will be able to compare their votes to those of their peers at schools from across the state. SBHS will be conducting this mock election using Google Forms. Each student will receive an email where they will access their ballot.
Prior to the elections, students are being provided with the Student Mock Election Voter Guide. All student votes will be anonymous and confidential.
Through our school’s involvement, students will discover how government and politics affect their lives. They will gain firsthand knowledge of how citizens make their voices heard in our democracy and experience the power of their votes.
We are looking forward to inspiring a new generation to become more active in the political process.
