SBHS, Cal-SOAP hold annual College Fair

Courtesy of San Benito High School:
San Benito High School and Cal-SOAP held their annual College Fair at Mattson Gym on Oct. 25.
There were 36 University of California, California State University, private, junior college and out-of-state representatives that filled the gym for students and parents to learn about various colleges.
The most popular college tables visited by students were Fresno and Chico State, CSU Monterey Bay, San Jose State, and Sonoma State. Of the UC’s that were in attendance, students enjoyed speaking with Santa Barbara, San Diego, Davis, and Irvine. Gavilan, Cabrillo, and Monterey Peninsula were the nearby junior colleges in attendance.
Students had the opportunity to interact with several college representatives at the schools’ individual tables and had questions answered about impacted majors, housing, tuition, financial aid and acceptance rates. Students also received information about programs as the EOP, Blue and Gold and the Promise Program at junior colleges.
This year’s College Fair was attended by approximately 210 students and 100 parents, representing a 12 percent increase from last year. Thank you to all who attended this year’s College Fair!
