San Benito County: 52 confirmed COVID-19 cases

San Benito County added one newly confirmed COVID-19 case Monday, bringing its total to 52 since testing began.

The county reported the total of 52 infections including 48 patients recovered, two active cases and two deaths.

The county has confirmed eight infections since April 17, with a general slowdown in confirmed cases over the past month or so.

The county also has surpassed 1,000 overall tests since the pandemic began. The county has undertaken 1,017 total cases, with 938 negative results and 27 pending. San Benito County this week is supposed to start a spike in testing availability, with the Veterans Memorial Building turning into a test site soon.

Officials believe there have been 25 community transmissions with 23 person-to-person transmissions, three travel-related cases and one under investigation.

The county released the following Monday:

To date, a total of 1,017 patients in San Benito County (SBC) have been tested for COVID-19 at twenty reporting laboratories. Of these, 938 have tested negative for COVID-19 and 27 are pending results. Fifty-nine percent (598) of patients tested were female. Patients ages ranged from 10 months to 101 years (median: 45 years). SBC Public Health Services continues to work with medical providers to identify and test individuals who meet criteria for COVID-19 testing. As of May 4, 2020, there have been a total of 52 confirmed cases of COVID-19 in SBC; 2 cases remain active. Confirmed cases include patients who have since recovered and those who are deceased. Forty-eight patients have recovered and are no longer considered active cases in SBC. A total of 2 deaths have been reported in SBC, one during weeks 12 and 14, respectively. All results included in this update are current to May 4, 2020 at 3:00PM.
