The San Benito County Relay for Life chapter has activities leading up to the big event Friday and Saturday at Ladd Lane Elementary School.
This past Monday, the downtown district showed its support for the effort by taking part in Paint the Town Purple activities such as placing purple ribbons throughout downtown or showing up to work dressed in purple.
Relay for Life is scheduled to start at 6 p.m. Friday and will run to 2 p.m. Saturday at the local school. It is a fundraiser for the American Cancer Society, and the local chapter is trying to raise $110,000 this year.
