Chief Probation Officer Ted Baraan resigned from his post after four years on the job, while former Assistant Chief Probation Officer Joe Frontella has been appointed as the interim chief.
The San Benito County Board of Supervisors received an update on the matter in Tuesday’s meeting from County Administration Officer Ray Espinosa.
Supervisor Mark Medina after the meeting told San Benito Live he didn’t know much about it and received an email last week about the resignation.
“The only thing I know is he resigned last week,” Medina said.
Barann’s LinkedIn page, meanwhile, lists him as a retired community corrections professional. Baraan took on the role in April 2014 and left in August, according to the profile. Before that, he had been a division director for the probation department in Alameda County for 18 years.
As for Frontella, he thanked officials for the opportunity and noted he had been doing similar work for the past 23 years, the last three in San Benito County. He has been superintendent of juvenile hall and then became assistant chief.
