The annual dance and parade celebrations as part of the Portuguese Festival weekend are coming up soon.
Hollister has a strong Portuguese community, so the festivities are a big deal for many local residents. According to information provided by the Hollister Downtown Association:
The SDES Portuguese Hall will host the “Queen Coronation” and dance May 19, at 9 p.m., at 695 Seventh St., followed by the parade May 20, at 10 a.m. The parade route begins at the Hall, going East on Seventh Street, North on San Benito Street and West on fifth Street to Sacred Heart Church for the 11 a.m. mass. The mass is followed by the serving of Portuguese sopas, games and auction. A dinner and dance is held at the Hall at 6 p.m. For more information, contact Anthony Silva (831)801-5584.
