Police respond to two shootings in an hour

Police responded to two shootings in one hour and need help finding witnesses to the incidents.

According to a statement from Hollister police:

On Aug. 24, Hollister police officers responded to two separate shootings within one hour time period.  Officers are asking for any additional witnesses to come forward.

On Aug. 24 at about 9 p.m., officers were dispatched to a shooting that occurred near the corner of Versailles and Del Mar Drive. A man and his girlfriend were traveling in a car when they were shot at; possibly by someone in another passing car.  The victim vehicle was hit several times but luckily the driver and his girlfriend were not hurt.

Witnesses described a dark colored 2012-2015 hatchback fleeing from the area immediately after the shots were fired traveling north on Versailles Drive toward Paseo Drive and then East on Hillcrest Road.

Officers were still investigating the shooting and processing evidence when another shooting call was received.

At about 9:50 p.m., witnesses reported two white cars traveling on East Street near First Street chasing one another. Shots were fired between the two cars but no one has come forward as a victim of any shooting or to report they were shot at.  Police were able to recover bullet casings and are looking at nearby surveillance footage to attempt to identify the suspects.

Both incidents are being investigated as possible gang activity.  Although some witnesses have come forward, Officers are asking for any additional witnesses to call with information that can lead to the identity of those involved and their arrest.
