Police allege three connected to loaded firearm

The Hollister Police Department arrested three local men on suspicion of possession of a loaded firearm with altered or removed serial numbers.

According to a statement from police:

On August 24, 2018, at 12:28 A.M., Officers were dispatched to a fight in the area of Johnny’s Bar involving 6 to 10 persons.  A firearm was reportedly involved.

As Officers arrived several people ran from the area.  One subject stayed behind but did not wish to cooperate with the officers.  Other officers, who were circulating the area, contacted five persons in the area of Seventh Street and East Street. The suspects had been found hiding.

Officers searched the area and found a loaded pistol in very close proximity to the group.  Further investigation revealed that the firearm had possibly been discharged during the fight.

Hollister residents Ivan Cruz (26) (pictured with red shirt), Jason Gutierrez (29) (pictured with black shirt), and Salvador Vaca (25) were all taken into custody.  They were all booked for charges related to possession of a firearm with the serial numbers removed, carrying a concealed weapon in a vehicle, carrying a loaded concealed weapon and carrying a loaded firearm in public.
