Obituary: Wayne A. Thompson (1930-2018)

August 13, 1930 – August 2, 2018
Born in Willmette, IL
Resided in Hollister, CA

Wayne Allen Thompson died on August 1, 2018 at the age of 87. Wayne was born in Glenview, Illinois on August 13, 1930 to Allen and Ella Thompson. He married his high school sweetheart, Bonnie, and moved to San Diego, California in 1950, where he raised his family. He is survived by his wife Bonnie Thompson and his three children Cindy Cordova, Linda Miller, and Ken Thompson.

Wayne loved to fish and cruise the desert in his dune buggy. He was a great storyteller who especially enjoyed time sharing his experiences with friends and family; Wayne truly was a man who “never met a stranger”. Shortly after retirement, Wayne and Bonnie moved to Beaver, Utah where they built their dream home and remained for 19 years. Five years ago, they moved to Hollister, CA, to be closer to family.

Wayne loved and valued family above all else; nothing gave him more pride or happiness than spending time with his family. He was a superb mechanic who gave countless hours to help family and friends in need. Wayne was a role model for his children and grandchildren, passing on his strong work ethic and the importance of kindness and respect for others.
