Obituary: Silverio ‘Marty’ Martinez (1941-2019)

The Rosary will be on Wednesday, October 2, 2019 at 7:00 PM at Black Cooper Sander Funeral Home. The Mass will be on Thursday, October 3, 2019 at 11:00 AM at Sacred Heart Church with interment and military rites by VFW Post 9242 following at Calvary Cemetery.

Silverio “Marty” Martinez, born June 20, 1941, passed away peacefully on September 18, 2019, surrounded by his family. Marty was born to Juan and Angelina Martinez of Visalia, where he lived until he entered the Army in 1959. Upon his return from the service he moved to Hollister where he met his wife, Carol Andrade. Marty worked for Holex and Leatherback Industries before retiring in 1992. Marty was a huge sports fan. He loved rooting for the San Francisco 49ers and the San Francisco Giants. His most memorable trip was to see the 49ers play Tampa Bay with his son. Marty also loved softball and bowling but what he loved most was golf. On any day of the week you could find him out on the golf course. Marty was an active AA member for 28 years.

Marty was preceded in death by his parents, brother, Randy Gonzalez and sisters Pearl Camacho, Jessie Martinez and Angie Casarez. He is survived by his wife of 46 years, Carol Martinez, daughter, Pamela Martinez-Larsen (Louis), son, Marty Martinez, grandson, Adrian Larsen, brother, John Martinez (Cynthia) as well as many nieces, nephews and extended family.
