Obituary: Maxine Hoelscher (1932-2019)

Maxine Joyce Hoelscher of Hollister, California passed away peacefully in her sleep on February 20, 2019 at the age of 86. She was born on September 29, 1932 in Santa Clara, California, a daughter of the late Manuel and Louisa Silvera. She will be lovingly remembered by her husband of 54 years, Willard James Hoelscher. She will be missed by two sons and two daughters: Kevin Griffith, Teresa Wiegman, Brenda Westlund, and Patrick Hoelscher. She was Grammie to Kevin Griffith Jr., Christopher Griffith, Amy Maddox, Hannah Smith, Annie Wiegman and Brian Wiegman. She had 4 great grandchildren and numerous friends and relatives. Maxine is survived by her brother, Daniel Silvera and her sister, Nadine Morgan. She is predeceased by her brother Stanley Silvera.

Maxine enjoyed square dancing with Willard. She sewed matching dance outfits for Willard and herself. They often traveled to various hoedowns around the country. Speaking of traveling, they traveled to every state in the country, most of them by truck and trailer. They visited most of the provinces in Canada. They especially enjoyed their trip to Mexico. Maxine was a serious Democrat and a devoted Catholic. She was a lifetime member of Weight Watchers. She was passionate about entertaining their friends.
A private interment will be held at the San Joaquin National Cemetery. The family wishes to thank all who cared for Maxine during her last days, especially Rosana Mendoza at Mary’s House in Gilroy.
