Every September, Mexican Independence Day Parade offers a chance for Hollister residents to show their pride in culture.
Each fall on the Sunday closest to Sept. 16, which is Mexican Independence Day, Hollister celebrates the holiday with a tradition-heavy parade.
Considering Hollister and San Benito County’s Latino-heavy demographics (about two-thirds of the population here is Latino) the Mexican Independence Day Parade is a highlight for the area. If you haven’t been to this event, mark it on the calendar and make sure you attend it next time around.
It features music, dancing horses and residents in traditional dress. It’s a must-see for anyone interested in local Mexican-American culture.
