Hollister police arrested a 37-year-old man alleging brandishing of a firearm during a road-rage incident, and while the suspect had his family in the vehicle.
According to Hollister police:
On Oct. 15, Hollister officers arrested a man for brandishing a firearm at the driver of another car during a road-rage incident.
At about 11:30 a.m., a person reported an incident involving the driver of a maroon-colored Honda with dealer plates. The suspect driver had allegedly cut off the reporting party’s vehicle as they were traveling on San Felipe Road and the lanes had converged to one lane. After some hand gestures, the driver of the Honda allegedly brandished a handgun out the window.
Officer Rudy Rodriguez circulated in the area of San Felipe Road actively looking for the suspect vehicle. He was able to locate a maroon Honda with dealer plates in the area of San Felipe Road and Santa Ana Road. He initiated a traffic stop on the vehicle. Officer Rodriguez and other assisting officers discovered the Honda was occupied with an entire family. The driver, Fidel Pena (37) from Los Banos, CA, was taken out of the vehicle. Inside the vehicle was his wife, two teenagers and a 4 year old child.
Officers recovered a handgun in the vehicle. During the initial investigation, the family members denied knowing anything about what had occurred. After further investigation Officers were able to develop evidence to arrest Pena for brandishing a firearm and child endangerment.
He was transported to the San Benito County Jail and his family was released at the scene.
