Hollister City Council members voted 3-1 on Monday to appoint Planning Commissioner Carol Lenoir as the District 1 council member.
Lenoir, a retired city employee turned planning commissioner, replaces former Councilman Ray Friend, who resigned from the role in August. Council members chose her over two other candidates interviewed Monday at the 4 p.m. meeting. The two others were Elizabeth Doidge and Dawn Koistinen. Two other prior applicants had pulled out of contention for the role.
Mayor Ignacio Velazquez had the dissenting vote. Velazquez had motioned for Koistinen, but nobody seconded his motion.
That came after council members asked each candidate the same seven questions.
