Hospital auxiliary boutique moves to weekend in 40th year

Residents can give back to the local hospital auxiliary by doing some shopping this weekend.
The 40th annual Winter Magic Holiday Boutique is set for 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday at the Veterans Memorial Building. The event includes a variety of craft vendors and benefits the Hazel Hawkins Hospital Auxiliary. The organization raises money for hospital equipment, education for employees and scholarships for students studying in the medical field.
“They’ve changed it up a little bit this year,” said Frankie Gallagher, head of marketing and communications for the hospital. “They’re doing it on a weekend to attract a commuter crowd and bring in families.”
Visitors can expect changes to the food offerings as well. Lunch is served from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m.
“Instead of the soup and salad lunch they’ve done in the past, they’re doing hot dogs, polish sausages, cookies, tea, that sort of thing,” she said.
There will be new and different craft vendors this year along with special high-end items from Hazel’s, the year-round thrift store that benefits the auxiliary, which were saved for this event, Gallagher said.
Along with vendors, there will be a raffle with tickets selling for $1 each or six for $5. Numerous businesses donated goods to the raffle, which also includes a $500 grand prize.
