The Hollister School District recently celebrated the outstanding performances of our students in the Central Coast Section Honor Band.

The band is comprised of top musical students from San Benito, Santa Cruz, Monterey, and San Luis Obispo. The Hollister School District was represented by:

Bella Velasquez, clarinet from Hollister Dual Language Academy

Jaeden Chong, alto saxophone from Hollister Dual Language Academy

Megan Maggiora, clarinet from Accelerated Achievement Academy

Elizabet Trinidad, clarinet from Accelerated Achievement Academy

Leeza Gatson, bass clarinet from Accelerated Achievement Academy

These students arrived on Thursday evening and began practicing immediately. They continued practicing all day on Friday, and on Saturday morning. The highly talented group then performed a concert Saturday afternoon at Hartnell College in Salinas. The event was a huge success and the musicians put on a great show.

The district is especially proud of these talented musicians because they all do a wonderful job of representing the district as academic leaders in the classroom. They all expertly balance the time intensive schedule of music practice with their academic subjects. We are grateful to the families of our musicians who support their passion.

Also, congratulations to our band teachers, Mrs. Silviera and Mr. Zeff on a job well done! For more information, contact Superintendent Diego Ochoa at [email protected].
