The Hollister School District proudly announces that the Student Nutrition Department will continue to operate all summer and feed children ages 18 yrs of age and younger. The district, which educates nearly 6,000 children daily, has implemented a highly successful school breakfast and lunch program that has served over 300,000 meals since March.
Superintendent Diego Ochoa said: “Our school breakfasts and lunches have been a lifeline to many needy children in our community. I am forever grateful to the amazing student nutrition staff that has reported to work every day since the campus closures. I truly hope that all students and parents are able to visit our schools on these Monday MealDays because of the critical importance of student nutrition.”
The program serves 5,000 breakfasts and 5,000 lunches each day in the “Monday MealDay” configuration. The district will continue with Monday MealDay through August 10, 2020.
Director of Student Nutrition Ann Pennington said: “Every Monday, 9 a.m. to 1 p.m., we will have 5 days of breakfast and 5 days of lunches. Each meal will come with produce and milk ready for pick up by families.”
