A Hollister man was arrested Thursday on suspicion of driving under the influence of alcohol after a fatal collision on Highway 25.
An unidentified 42-year-old San Jose man died in the traffic collision Thursday night on Highway 25, according to the California Highway Patrol.
The accident involved two vehicles, while two others – including the Hollister man, 34-year-old Jesus Rodriguez – were transported to hospitals with injuries.
The incident happened at 9:05 p.m. north of Bolsa Road. The CHP reported that the San Jose man driving a 2017 Ford Transit 250 entered Highway 25 from a private driveway directly in the path of a 2004 Chevy Silverado driven by Rodriguez.
The impact caused the Ford to overturn. A passenger in the Ford, a 39-year-old with an unknown residence listed, was transported by air ambulance to Regional Medical Center of San Jose with major injuries. The Hollister man was transported to Saint Louise Regional Hospital and was later booked into the Santa Clara County Jail.
Due to the investigation, the CHP closed northbound Highway 25 for about 90 minutes and southbound 25 for an additional hour.
