The Hollister Downtown Association has canceled the 2020 farmers market.
The announcement came via social media Thursday, with the HDA announcing the cancellation of the Downtown Hollister Certified Farmers Market that typically runs from May-September.
The market has become a tradition on Wednesdays for several months of the year. But with uncertainty about the coronavirus – and little chance of large crowds being allowed to gather anytime soon – the HDA made the announcement.
The market was scheduled to run from May 6 to Sept. 9 this year on Wednesdays, along with a special Saturday market Sept. 19.
The downtown event features vendors selling fresh produce, prepared foods, flowers, organic and gluten-free selections, specialty baked goods, olive oils, honey, sausages, BBQ and more. It also generally includes handcrafted items, information booths, live entertainment and activities for children. It is co-sponsored by the San Benito Health Foundation.
