A fatal accident happened early Thursday on Highway 101 that involved a Hollister resident who survived the collision.
The accident resulted in the death of an unidentified man in the collision on northbound Highway 101 north of Metcalf Road, according to the California Highway Patrol.
It happened at 3:29 a.m. When emergency personnel arrived, they came to four fully engulfed vehicles blocking the road among five total vehicles involved in the wreck.
The fatality victim was in a 2011 BMW. Other vehicles included a 2015 Ford driven by a Gilroy man, a 2017 Suburu driven by a Gilroy man, a 2017 Toyota driven by a Salinas man and the 2019 Toyota driven by a 54-year-old Hollister man.
The cause and sequence of events are still under investigation. It is known that the BMW and Ford collided with the center median.
Neither drugs nor alcohol are suspected.
