The Hollister School District is announcing it will produce districtwide, school site, and student Town Hall Events between July 31, 2020 and August 14, 2020.
“Student Town Hall Events” will take place each night between starting at 5 pm from August 10 – 14. The district is seeking student volunteers for these events. Students who enjoy being in videos and like to share their opinions are encouraged to volunteer. HSD will produce (8) separate videos; one each for TK/K, 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, RSJ/Maze, AAA/Calaveras/HDLA 6-8 events.
Superintendent Diego Ochoa said: “We have some amazingly talented students in the district and I’m eager to give them a way to share their distance learning opinions and experiences with all children and parents in our community.”
The district will also be producing “School Site Town Hall Events” starting at 5 pm from August 3-7. Each School Site Town Hall Event will take place at 6pm and feature the principal, teachers, and staff taking email questions and live questions. The district hopes that these events will help our community feel more prepared and informed for the upcoming school year.
HSD will also produce “Parent Town Hall Events” starting at 5 pm on July 31, 2020 and August 7, 2020. The district recently held a “Special Education Parent Town Hall” on July 24, 2020 which has garnered more than 400 views online. Superintendent Diego Ochoa said, “ I really like the fact that all parents can email questions before the event, call during the event, or watch the event at a later date/time. All they have to do is visit the HSD Social Media Youtube Channel.”
Since the beginning of school closures on March 16, 2020, the district has been increasingly utilizing the HSD Social Media Youtube Channel to communicate with parents. The site, which had less than 50 subscribers, has grown to over 900 subscribers. Videos posted on the Youtube Channel below often exceed 500 views and inspire parent involvement in the district.
