The Hollister School District Special Education Department has developed a Distance Learning Plan for children to receive education opportunities during our Special Education Extended School Year (ESY). The District has determined that, for health and safety purposes related to COVID-19, all children’s educational needs must be provided through Distance Learning during this public health emergency.
Superintendent Diego Ochoa said: “This health and safety determination has been made based on guidance provided by the Center for Disease Control, California Department of Education, Department of Public Health, Governor Newsom and all other relevant information available to the District, including the Shelter in Place order for San Benito County.”
Children who have ESY services stated in their Individual Education program (IEP) will be provided additional time beyond the regular school year, to help sustain and continue academic, communication, self-help and/or social-emotional skills.
ESY Distance Learning Program: The ESY Distance Learning Program is in session from June 23, 2020- July 31, 2020 from 8:30-11:30am.

| Low Technology: Supplemental learning materials to access adapted curriculum which also include hands-on activities, art projects, communication boards etc. Hard copies of these resources is to be made available at the ESY site on a scheduled date and online. The Distance Learning Plan is developed in consideration of each child’s needs. We encourage every parent/guardian who is considering ESY for their child to register early through written confirmation for us to be able to secure staff and technology and other materials. Our special education teacher and/or specialist/s may not work during our ESY Program, so it is likely that your child may not have the same teacher/specialist during the school year. Kindly complete the attached HSD Distance Learning Extended School Year Application 2020 and return it to the District Office via email or mail, no later than Friday, March 22, 2020.
