There was a small fire Monday night at AgriPharma on Airway Drive caused by an issue during a marijuana extraction process, according to the Hollister Fire Department.
The fire was reported close to 10 p.m. Monday at 1851 Airway Drive.
“They had a small fire created by one of their extraction processes,” said Battalion Chief Rodney Dover regarding the permitted cannabis manufacturer located near the Hollister Municipal Airport.
Dover couldn’t elaborate on details but did confirm there were “some chemicals involved” that were taken into account during the response.
“One of the devices, it was an operational procedure that they messed up on,” Dover said.
He said nobody was injured and the fire was out when crews arrived. The structure had built-in fire extinguishing equipment, Dover said.
The fire department responded with three engines, and Calfire covered the county during the incident, Dover said.
A spokeswoman for Agripharma, Elia Salinas, said the company had no comment until the investigation’s completion.
