A 21-year-old Gilroy man died in a vehicle accident Saturday morning on Highway 25, according to the California Highway Patrol.
The incident occurred at 9:30 a.m. near Bolado Park. The Gilroy man, identified as Ryan Henner by the San Benito County Coroner’s Office, was in a 2011 Toyota Tacoma northbound on 25 at an unknown speed.
He turned to the right, causing the vehicle to veer slightly off the east roadway onto the dirt shoulder. He lost control and traveled across the southbound lane, striking a tree and coming to a rest, according to the CHP.
He was transported by Calstar to Natividad Medical Center where he succumbed to injuries.
The passenger, a 20-year-old Morgan Hill woman, was transfered to the same hospital with major injuries.
