The Hollister Police Department was joined by the San Benito County Sheriff’s Office, the county’s office of emergency services and other agencies in an “active shooter” drill held Nov. 17 at Premiere Cinemas in Hollister. The drill involved the portrayal of a fatal shooting in the theater. Officers rushed in to the entrance, surveyed the situation and entered the screen where the incident supposedly occurred. Responders searched for a suspect and treated actors playing victims. Such exercises have become common throughout the U.S. due to many mass-shootings in places where people gather. Previously, local law enforcement agencies have held active shooter scenarios in places like the San Benito High School campus.
