The doors to the physical library may be closed, but that hasn’t stopped the San Benito Library from offering programs to the community. The library continues to promote life-long learning, for kids, teens and adults. Offerings include online art programs and other digital outreach, bilingual story time via Zoom, e-books and e-movies, and curbside pick up of library materials.
Nor has it stopped the Friends of the Library from its goal of supporting programs that enrich the community. The Friends recently held an online auction fundraiser, which replaced their Tea and Treasures even which was not able to be held this year.
16 baskets were auctioned off online, raising over $1,200 that will be used to support library programs. Just before the Pandemic, many local businesses were generous with their donations which were used to create the gift baskets. Not skipping a beat, the Friends are now participating in the Community Foundation’s San Benito Gives Virtual Fundraiser. The Friends created two large gift baskets that are available for bidding online at the Community Foundation website (https://givesanbenito.org/auction ) November 13th – 17th. Monies raised will also support the many programs benefitting the communities of San Benito County via the Library.
