Hollister Fire Department crews extinguished a rubbish and grass fire Wednesday afternoon before it had a chance to get out of control.
Firefighters put out the fire reported around 4 p.m. Wednesday on San Felipe Road, about a mile south of the Four Corners area where Dunneville Market is located, Battalion Chief Phil Rossi said.
They kept the grass fire to about 2 acres, but had challenges with wood piles on the rural San Benito County property, Rossi said.
“We got on it pretty quick,’ he said.
South Santa Clara County fire crews assisted the local department as part of an auto-aid agreement, Rossi said.
