Fatality victim’s ID, other details released from accident on 152

The California Highway Patrol released the identity of a fatality victim and more details from the accident Wednesday morning on Highway 152 near Lovers Lane. 

The victim was Juan Oliveras, 27, from Palo Alto, according to the press release. 

At approximately 6:18 a.m., a 32-year-old man from Los Banos was driving a 2005 Toyota Tundra westbound on Highway 152 east of Lovers Lane while approaching a 2008 Toyota Sienna driven by Oliveras. 

For an unknown reason, it appears Oliveras crossed over the double yellow lines and entered the westbound lane of traffic where the front of the vehicle collided with the front of the Tundra.

After this collision, both vehicles came to rest blocking both lanes of 152. As a result of the collision. 

The Tundra driver and a 23-year-old female passenger in the Sienna were transported to San Jose Regional Medical Center with injuries. 

Neither alcohol nor drugs are a suspected factor in this collision at this time. The collision is still under investigation pending information from the Santa Clara County Coroner’s office.  Due to the investigation, 152 in both directions was closed for approximately 3 and 1/2 hours.
