Elections office moves closer to finishing count

The San Benito County Elections Office continued working toward completion of counting for the June 5 primary, with the latest election results released Wednesday evening.

The elections office now has just 220 unprocessed ballots to tabulate before it can then finish the canvass and make the numbers official.

The latest vote count didn’t alter any of the local results or sway any races one way or the other. There have been 12,381 ballots cast out of 28,774 registered voters. It looks as though turnout will land somewhere between 43 percent and 44 percent for the election, topping expectations.
