Melinda Casillas and Jaime De La Cruz are facing off in the June 5 primary for the treasurer/tax collector/public administrator job. They are vying to succeed Mary Lou Andrade in the elected role that involves overseeing taxpayers’ money at the county level and exchanging funds with public districts. Casillas has been in public finance positions for the past 20 years, while De La Cruz is in his fourth term as a county supervisor and has been a controller in the private sector for 12 years.
