Newcomer Rolan Resendiz has a big lead over incumbent District 2 Hollister City Councilwoman Mickie Luna to represent the city’s west side.
Resendiz had 65.58% of the vote to 34.42% for Luna after initial results came out after 8 p.m.
Resendiz had the lead after the release of initial results shortly after 8 p.m. Those results include the majority of votes that will be tabulated, largely from mail ballots.
Luna, a longtime leader in the local League of United Latin American Citizens organization and former city employee, is seeking her second term. Resendiz, a political newcomer, is co-owner of the ARTI-Culture business and a teacher in training at the Hollister Prep School.
