Erika Sanchez, Assistant Superintendent of Human Resources & Linda Villalon, Human Resource Manager, Hollister School District

It is often stated that the Human Resources Department is the heart and soul of any successful organization.  Linda and Erika epitomize this simple truth for the Hollister School District (HSD).  This dynamic duo is extremely compassionate, deeply committed to our community, thoughtful and are highly regarded/valued members of our Administration Team.  They serve all of San Benito County in one way or another from answering questions, addressing the occasional complaint, helping on both negotiations teams, leading employee evaluations and hiring new all new HSD employees.  Their timely communication (and especially with prospective new employees) is especially positive and kind.  Linda and Erika’s welcoming demeanor has a powerfully calming effect on stressed-out prospective employees.  Whether speaking on the phone or meeting them in person, all new employees quickly realize they made the right decision choosing the Hollister School District!

Daniel Bailor, Caped Crusading Calaveras Certificated Employee

Mr. Bailor is an outstanding teacher.  He gets along well with his peers, parents, and most importantly our students.  Mr. Bailor understands that building positive relationships is the foundation of quality teaching.  He is a highly organized, committed, and compassionate educator.  He is an open-minded person who enjoys collaborating with colleagues to solve instructional challenges.  Some of his many strengths are a calm demeanor and excellent sense of humor.  Mr. Bailor is a consummate professional.  He showed up to Calaveras during the summer to plan and set up his digital classroom.  He was here again two weeks before school started preparing for his distance learning lessons.  Since he works in a self-contained 8th grade classroom at Calaveras School, he prepares for and teaches five subjects: Math, Science, Language Arts, Social Studies, and English Language Development. Mr. Bailor has an affinity for Dr. Pepper which fuels his superhero teaching and helps make him the Superman of Calaveras.

Rachelle Nunez, Calaveras/AAA Classified Employee

Calaveras/AAA’s new Library Media Tech Rachelle Nunez has shown herself to be a technology superstar!  Taking all the uncertainty of our school’s opening in stride, Rachelle has shown everyone that she is happy to help and jumps headfirst into any new challenge to assist students, parents, extended families, pets, staff and even administrators!  Quick on the phone, vastly knowledgeable, always learning and sharing new things, Rachelle’s sense of humor (in Spanish and English) has made the uncertainty of distance learning far less daunting and even fun!

Zane Andrade, AAA 6th Grade Student

Zane is a talented student and a driving force at AAA.  Kinetically gifted, Zane is the first to volunteer to help in class, in the garden, on the playground and on the football field.  This summer when the garden was boasting 6 ft. weeds, Zane came with motorized tools and took them all down.  In his 6th grade online class, Mrs. Helgevold singled Zane out as someone she can always count on to help and participate.  On the flag football field Zane has great hands and his competitive nature always makes games fun!

Lola Bernabe, Calaveras 6th Grade Student

Lola is a dedicated and hardworking student. She is a kind, caring person with three siblings. She loves school, playing video games, and doing art.  She especially likes anime.  She is always on time to her 6th grade distance learning class and her teacher, Mrs. Vela, says that she completes all assignments and is  very helpful to her classmates by presenting her screen, chatting, and giving helpful directions to the class when needed.
