Earthquake measures at 4.7-magnitude, centered south of Tres Pinos

A 4.7-magnitude earthquake hit Tres Pinos on Tuesday afternoon.

The quake shook the area at 12:42 p.m., according to the U.S. Geological Survey. It was at a depth of 9.7 kilometers.

People reported feeling the quake as far north as the Napa area and as far south as the Santa Maria area, according to the USGS.

It was 16 kilometers south/southeast of Tres Pinos, while an aftershock hit 13 minutes later measuring at 2.6 magnitude.

The quake led to minor damage in households, but the sheriff’s office did not hear of any major damage or injuries as of 1:30 p.m.
